British Canoeing SEa kayak Award

The Sea Kayak Award endorses your skills, judgement and the decision making required for a successful day on the sea. You will be confident in planning and undertaking journeys on the sea, in winds up to and including force 3 and/or tides up to 1 Knot, using sea kayaks in tidal or non-tidal environments, with proficient skills to be in control throughout. Your award should be seen as a sound basis for building the experience and knowledge associated with Coastal Sea Kayak Award holders.

During this award you will develop your skill, judgement and decision making to enable you to plan a successful trip on the sea. You will look at the key decisions needed to ensure you are in the right place at the right time. Key paddling and rescue skills will be developed. You will also learn how to choose the right paddling and safety equipment for your trip.

The Sea Kayak Award has no formal assessment. Each day you spend kayaking will further expand your skills and knowledge. We will tailor the course around your needs and it will be certificated when you are ready.

We work in small groups, which allows for more individual coaching and feedback . All our courses are tailored to each participants level and needs.

Instructors: We are sea kayak guides trained by the Norwegian canoe association, British Canoeing and the International Sea Kayak Guide Alliance (ISKGA).

LOCATION

We use a range of training locations for this course and we’ ll find the best locations for each day.

DURATION

Two days course - When you are ready you can be certified with the BC sea kayak award.

Sea Kayak Awards: Two days course: 3000kr.

WEATHER CONDITIONS

In bad weather, the arranged activity will continue regardless. If the weather conditions are dangerous or if there is insufficient ice or snow, the instructor will cancel the activity. If no alternative is found, Norvantur will refund the registration.

SAFETY

Our outdoor activities have a minimal risk to our participants. At Norvantur, we are trained to assess the risks and trained in rescue techniques and first aid. Severe or extreme conditions are not part of our program.

CANCELLATION

In case of cancellation by the participant, we charge cancellation costs. These cancellation costs depend on the number of days remaining until the start of the activity. Participants cannot claim compensation in case of cancellation due to ‘force majeure’. In case of cancellation of the activity by Norvantur, the full registration sum will always be refunded. For safety reasons it may be necessary to change the program during the activity.

COVID-19

If you cannot participate to booked activities due to travel restrictions such as border closures, flight suspensions, quarantine, you can postpone the activity or ask for a refund of any pre-payments.
