5-Day Helgeland Coast Expedition & iskga Training

Spend five days paddling and training along the stunning Helgeland coast, just south of the Arctic Circle. This wild, varied coastline is an ideal playground for expedition paddlers: a vast, maze-like archipelago of islands, exposed crossings, areas of tidal flow, and ever-changing conditions.

We will explore remote areas, camp wild along the shore, and paddle through a landscape rich in wildlife such as seals, porpoises, Arctic terns, sea eagles, eider ducks and puffins nesting on the outer islands, as well as a variety of edible species in the water and along the shore, explored through responsible foraging as part of the training.

The expedition blends exploration of this wild and varied coastline, with hands-on training and the ISKGA expedition skills module building the practical skills and judgement needed for future expeditions. Together, we will plan each day — from reading weather and sea state, to navigating complex waters, choosing the best routes, and making dynamic decisions as conditions evolve. We will practice essential expedition skills such as shelter use, fire building, foraging, and low-impact coastal camping.

Every day, we will land our sea kayaks on remote white-sand beaches backed by mountains rising straight from the sea, using the long Arctic daylight to fully immerse ourselves in expedition life and skill development.

This expedition training includes:

·       Daily expedition paddling and on-water training

·       ISKGA Expedition Skills module practiced throughout the expedition

·       Exploring the beautiful island archipelago along the Helgeland coast
