NORTH SEA KAYAK TRAINING DAYS + EXPEDITION

Join us for five days of sea kayaking, three days of North Sea Kayak training, and for those who want combined with a two-day kayak expedition along the coast near Kristiansand.

North Sea Kayak Training – 3 Days (with North Sea Kayak & Norvantur)

These three intensive training days are designed to give you a solid foundation in the key skills of North Sea Kayaking. Through practical exercises and coaching, we will work on boat control, paddling technique, manoeuvring, edging, balance and efficient use of the kayak.

We will also explore how to read and work with the sea, including wind, waves, currents and coastal conditions. A strong emphasis is placed on developing good judgement and understanding how to use your skills in a safe and controlled way.

The training is practical and progressive, with plenty of time on the water. The aim is not only to learn individual techniques, but to understand when, where and why to use them.

The three-day programme is a shorter version of our five-day North Sea Kayak Training Camp, giving you an intensive introduction to the same core principles and skills.

Two-Day Sea Kayak Expedition (Norvantur)

After the training days, we take the skills into the field on a two-day kayak expedition along the coast near Kristiansand.

This is an opportunity to experience sea kayaking as an expedition, while continuing to develop your skills through real-world learning moments. We will plan and navigate our route, work with the conditions we encounter, and practise making decisions as a group.

The expedition includes an overnight stay on an island, giving you the opportunity to experience the practical side of kayak touring and expedition life. We will cover topics such as packing and loading your kayak, camp routines, navigation, route planning, group management and making good decisions based on weather and sea conditions.

The expedition is an integral part of the course: rather than simply learning skills in isolation, you will get to practise applying them in a real coastal environment.

The course is suitable for sea kayakers who want to develop their technical skills, improve their confidence and learn more about paddling safely and effectively in a dynamic coastal environment.

Whether you are looking to build a stronger foundation in sea kayaking or want to refine your existing skills and gain more experience with expedition-style paddling, the combination of focused training and a two-day expedition provides a varied and practical learning experience.

Two day Sea Kayak expedition: 2500 NOK/230 euro (Camp on an island)

WEATHER CONDITIONS

In bad weather, the arranged activity will continue regardless. If the weather conditions are dangerous, the instructor will cancel the activity. If no alternative is found, Norvantur will refund the registration.

SAFETY

Our outdoor activities have a minimal risk to our participants. At Norvantur, we are trained to assess the risks and trained in rescue techniques and first aid. Severe or extreme conditions are not part of our program.

CANCELLATION

In case of cancellation by the participant, we charge cancellation costs. These cancellation costs depend on the number of days remaining until the start of the activity. Participants cannot claim compensation in case of cancellation due to ‘force majeure’. In case of cancellation of the activity by Norvantur, the full registration sum will always be refunded. For safety reasons it may be necessary to change the program during the activity.

COVID-19

If you cannot participate to booked activities due to travel restrictions such as border closures, flight suspensions, quarantine, you can postpone the activity or ask for a refund of any pre-payments.
